Information we obtain from other third parties. We may receive Personal Information about you from third-party sources, such as marketing partners, publicly available sources, and data providers. Our use of any information obtained from our business customers is restricted by our agreements with those business partners. 

Information We Collect Through Automatic Data Collection Technologies

When you visit our website or use our online services, we and our third-party service providers may automatically collect certain information from the device you use to access the service. We refer to this as Usage Information. To the extent that we associate Usage Information with personal information you have submitted to us, we will treat the combined record as personal information.

   1. Administer your membership and program registrations. 
   2. Communicate with you about YMCA programs, events, services, and operational updates including facility, center, camp, and program closures or schedule changes. 
   3. Process payments securely. 
   4. Send you text messages (SMS) if you have opted in to receive them, including membership information, program updates, event notifications, and time-sensitive operational alerts such as center, camp, or class closures and schedule changes. 
   5. Improve our website and services.

How We Share Your Information

The YMCA will not sell, trade, share, or rent your personal information without your prior consent. We will not release your name or information to any list service, outside organization, or manufacturer. 

We may share your information with trusted third-party service providers who assist us in operating our website and delivering services on our behalf. These providers are only given access to information necessary to perform those services and are not permitted to use it for other purposes. 

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. SMS opt-in data and consent information - including your mobile number and messaging preferences - will not be shared with any third parties under any circumstances.

Interest-Based Advertising and Your Choices

The YMCA of Greater Charlotte does not currently use your personal information to deliver interest-based advertising on third-party platforms. If we begin to use interest-based advertising in the future, we will update this policy.  

Third-party services we use on our website, such as Google Analytics, may collect information that is also used by their providers to deliver interest-based advertising to you on other sites. 
 
You can limit the use of your information for that purpose by:  
   1. Adjusting your browser settings to block third-party cookies. 
   2. Using privacy-focused browsers or ad-blocking browser extensions that block tracking technologies. 
   3. Visiting Google Ad Settings site to opt out of personalized advertising from Google.

   5. Visiting the Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out page
   6. Using the AppChoices mobile app to opt out of interest-based ads in participating mobile apps. 

You will need to apply these opt-out settings on each device and browser from which you want to opt out.

Do Not Track Signals

Some browsers can be set to send a Do Not Track signal to the websites you visit. Because there is no industry-wide standard for how to interpret Do Not Track signals, our website does not currently respond to them - visit the Do Not Track site to To learn more.

Data Security

The YMCA uses industry-standard security measures, including secure transmission via SSL, to protect your personal and payment information during registration and other online transactions.

Children's Privacy

The YMCA of Greater Charlotte serves children and families through programs such as childcare, youth sports, swim lessons, summer camp, and after-school care. Personal information about children enrolled in these programs is collected directly from a parent or guardian during registration, not from the child, and is used only to operate the program and communicate with the family.
 
Our public website is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information online from a child under 13 outside of a program registration process initiated by a parent or guardian. If you believe we have collected personal information online from a child under 13 in any other way, please contact us by visiting our Contact Us page or email us at ymca@ymcacharlotte.org and we will delete that information as soon as reasonably practicable.
 
The YMCA of Greater Charlotte does not sell, rent, or share personal information about children for marketing or interest-based advertising purposes. 

Your State Privacy Rights

The YMCA of Greater Charlotte is based in North Carolina and serves members and families across the Carolinas and beyond. If you are a resident of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, or Virginia, your state's privacy law may grant you additional rights regarding your personal information.

Text Message (SMS) Communications

The YMCA of Greater Charlotte may send you text messages (SMS) related to your membership, programs, events, promotions, and other YMCA services if you have opted in to receive them. The following terms apply to all SMS communications from the YMCA.

Opting In

You may subscribe to receive SMS messages by texting START to our designated YMCA number or by opting in through an official YMCA registration or sign-up process. Message frequency varies based on your relationship with us and the programs you participate in. 
 
By opting in, you consent to receive recurring promotional and informational SMS messages from the YMCA of Greater Charlotte related to membership, programs, events, and services. Reply STOP to opt out; Reply HELP for help; Message and Data Rates May Apply; Message frequency varies. Your consent to receive SMS is not a condition of membership or purchase. Your opt-in constitutes your express written consent to receive SMS messages from the YMCA of Greater Charlotte at the mobile phone number you provide. You confirm that you are 18 years of age or older and that you are the subscriber or account holder of the mobile number provided, or that you have authority to consent to receive messages at that number. 
After you opt in, the YMCA will send a one-time confirmation text message identifying the YMCA of Greater Charlotte, describing the messages you will receive, and providing instructions to Reply HELP for help or Reply STOP to opt out. Message and Data Rates May Apply to the confirmation message.

Opting Out

You may cancel SMS communications at any time by replying STOP to any text message you receive from us. Once we receive your STOP message, we will send a confirmation and you will no longer receive SMS messages from us. To re-subscribe, simply opt in again through any of the methods above.

SMS message content is transmitted through third-party messaging platforms operating on our behalf and subject to our data handling requirements.
