Classes, Training & Education
The Y offers learning opportunities that foster the continuous development and improvement needed for personal and professional enrichment.

English as a Second Language
English as a Second Language (ESL) classes take place three times a week from September to June, helping immigrants and newcomers improve their language skills. The program fosters acculturation, community-building, and a safe, enjoyable learning environment.

Spanish as a Second Language
Our Spanish immersion classes teach students to communicate effectively in real-life situations, focusing on social and linguistic contexts. Suitable for all learning styles and cultures, the Y offers a fun and diverse range of authentic learning activities.

Babysitter Training
Learn how to care for infants and children, handle emergencies, and provide fun and enriching activities.

CPR/First Aid Training
We offer CPR and First Aid courses for all ages, with certifications valid for 2 years. Our American Safety & Health Institute-certified instructors provide training to help you learn lifesaving skills.

Swim Instructor Training
Complete this course to learn the key components of the YMCA Swim Lessons continuum, teach effectively, create a safe learning environment, and apply swim techniques to support skill progression at any age or level.

Lifeguard Training
The Y is committed to maintaining a safe aquatic environment, which includes training lifeguards with the skills to save lives. Our comprehensive course, for ages 15 and up, focuses on water rescue and safety and prepares lifeguards to anticipate and prevent dangers in and around water. Certification includes 25 hours of pool or classroom training and additional online learning. Each session is unique and requires the attendee's participation to pass the exams and achieve certification. Upon successful completion, participants are qualified to work as certified lifeguards at any of the Y’s 27 pools and waterparks — or aquatics facilities outside the YMCA. Certification comes at no cost to those employed as a lifeguard at the Y. For class placement, please use the Lifeguard Inquiry form button.

Parents As Teachers
All kids have great potential. At the Y, we know parents are the most important adults in a young child’s life and the most significant contributors to their success. Parent involvement is a critical link in a child's development of learning skills.
