[Charlotte, NC – June 12, 2017] Over 200 golfers took to the fairways and greens of Carolina Golf Club on Monday, May 15 to compete in the annual Center City YMCAs Golfing for Good Tournament. Hosted by the Childress Klein, Dowd, Gateway Village, Johnston and Stratford Richardson YMCAs, the event was sold out for the second year in a row.
The 208 participating golfers represented 51 companies whose generosity helped make this the most successful Golfing for Good tournament to date. Event sponsors also played an important role in the event’s success. Thank you to presenting sponsors Balfour Beatty Construction and Stream Realty, and healthcare sponsor Carolinas HealthCare System.
The event raised $125,935, which will support YMCA programs that make a significant impact in the community. Benefiting programs include Y Readers, the YMCA of Greater Charlotte’s nationally-recognized literacy program; Safety Around Water, the Y’s on-site water safety program that engages low-income youth living in local apartment communities; and life-changing youth programs at the Stratford Richardson YMCA located on West Boulevard.
