Who We Are
Our Mission and Our Values
The YMCA is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind, and body for all.
Guided by our core values of caring, respect, honesty, responsibility and faith, we take immense pride in our work to strengthen communities and help all of us be our best selves. We provide a place to play, to learn, to be healthy, to get inspired and to give back.
We give parents childcare, young adults job training, seniors a way to connect and children a safe place to go. We believe that everyone – no matter who they are or where they’re from – deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential. Everything the Y does is in service of making sure people and communities thrive.
The YMCA of Greater Charlotte has been deeply rooted in our local communities since 1874, engaging over 300,000 individuals annually through membership, events and volunteerism across our 15 branches and 2 resident camps.
