Overnight Camp

Nearly two miles of shoreline on Lake Wylie provides an amazing backdrop for life-changing experiences at YMCA Camp Thunderbird. Just 30 minutes from Charlotte, our ultimate water playground helps campers find their wings by developing independence, self-discipline and empathy.

Traditional Camp
Featuring adventures on both land and water, traditional camp includes activities like Wakeboarding, kayaking, paddle boarding, challenge courses, outdoor living skills classes, and horseback riding. These sessions are open to campers aged 7-16 years old.

Counselor-in-Training Program
Geared to rising high school juniors, our 4-week CIT program provides leadership experiences specific to camp. CITs live in a cabin with campers and counselors, meeting daily with the program director. Additionally, CITs spend a portion of each day leading various activities and coordinate two talent shows as part of their experience.
