Youth Basketball
LEARN BASKETBALL WHERE IT WAS INVENTED
There’s no better place to learn the basics of basketball than where it was invented – the Y. Since 1891, Y volunteers have coached kids and adults in this high-energy, exciting game. Youth Basketball at the YMCA of Greater Charlotte just got a lot more exciting, thanks to our continued partnership with The Charlotte Hornets!
Volunteer coaches head youth basketball camps, programs, and leagues, and lead players in drills and games designed to develop the fundamental skills of ball handling, dribbling, passing, shooting and defense. Our basketball programs and leagues for boys and girls fit the level of every level athletes and provide a space where youth can improve technique and build lasting friendships!
A League to Belong and Grow
Kids who play basketball and engage in healthy competition discover so much more than their athletic abilities. They experience a sense of belonging on their youth basketball team and learn what working together accomplishes. We encourage kids to challenge themselves as players and people.
Talented Coaches Who Care
Our coaches know how to encourage fun while maximizing the individual potential of each player. Players practice drills and games designed to develop the fundamental skills of ball handling, dribbling, passing, shooting and defense.
